SMM News on July 3:
Second-life batteries: Based on overall data analysis, the rigid demand in the ESS sector remained stable at the end of June, with both domestic and overseas demand receiving certain support from mid-year and various policies. The auto sales boom driven by auto shows in the early part of June gradually faded, with the penetration rate of NEVs in the market remaining stable. Currently, there is insufficient consumption momentum in the end-use market, and it is expected that there will be some increase in end-use demand, but it will be relatively limited. In terms of market transactions, as of the end of June, transactions remained sluggish. Some second-life battery producers basically did not build up much inventory and maintained a just-in-time procurement strategy. As we enter July, after the mid-year period, there is further room for demand in the NEV and ESS markets to decline.
